The chiral vortical effect is a anomaly-induced transport phenomenon characterized by an axial current in uniformly rotating fluid. It well understood for Weyl fermions high energy physics, but its realization condensed matter band structures, including those of semimetals, has been controversial. In this work, we develop the Kubo response theory electrons general structure subject to space- and time-dependent rotation or vorticity relative background lattice. For continuum Hamiltonians, recover static limit uniform when fluid, strictly, not Fermi liquid. liquid, describe that dub gyrotropic effect. latter governed Berry curvature occupied bands while former contains additional contribution from magnetic moment on surface. two effects can be as kinematic analogs well-known structures.
